AI influencer makes $3k a month while agency avoids ‘egotistical and manic’ models

The head of a modeling agency has created an AI influencer because he was sick of dealing with “egotistical” models who make an “absurd” amount of money.
Ruben Cruz, founder of Barcelona-based The Clueless, says Aitana Lopez makes about $3,224 a month.
The pink-haired figure sports tan skin, sculpted eyebrows and a chiseled jawline. She is a “strong and determined woman” with “boldness and authenticity,” according to a post on her Instagram page.
Cruz told Euronews: “We did it so that we could make a better living and not be dependent on other people who have egos, who have manias, or who just want to make a lot of money by posing.”
Most models are known to make very little money, and they’re often in debt to their agencies in an industry that’s also rife with sexual exploitation.

Aitana already boasts 313,000 followers on Instagram, though her low rate of engagement calls the authenticity of those followers into question. The AI model’s most recent post, published six weeks ago, has only 28 likes.
That doesn’t seem to be deterring some social media users, as Cruz reveals that a famous Latin American actor tried to slide into her DMs.
“This actor has about 5 millions followers and some of our team watched his TV series when they were kids,” Cruz said.
Digitally rendered influencers have been around for years, with the most notable example being Lil Miquela, a CGI character created in 2016. She has 2.6 million followers and has modeled for Calvin Klein and Prada.
Cruz said of Aitana: “We started analyzing how we were working and realized that many projects were being put on hold or canceled due to problems beyond our control. Often it was the fault of the influencer or model and not due to design issues.”

He added: “A lot of thought has gone into Aitana. We created her based on what society likes most. We thought about the tastes, hobbies and niches that have been trending in recent years.”
Cruz says saving money is a big part of his AI strategy.
“Kim Kardashian makes a million euros for an Instagram photo and she doesn’t cure cancer. Nobody earns a million euros for uploading a photo to a social network, it seems absurd to me,” he explained.
Of course, most models and influencers are not Kim Kardashian.
There is no union for fashion and commercial models, and agencies typically take a cut as high as 20 percent. In the US, the average annual salary for models is $47,000, below the average US annual salary of $59,384, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
